I realy think glocks are over rated big time. Have you looked at the Springfield XD's those a pretty damn good guns. I know the police out here dont use glocks they use the XD's or 1911's

Okay so let me rock the boat. I have owned 5 glocks now. I have two currently. One is my everyday carry gun. I have taken and instructed multiple defensive pistol courses. There are a lot of good guns out there. The SR9 is a great little gun, the Springfield XD is a great little gun. I have owned one of the later. They both have one thing in common. They are copies and over engineered versions of the Glock. As for the guy who said no safety, you need to do some more research. there are in fact 3 safeties on a Glock. The fact that they are integrated into the trigger pull speaks volumes about the idea behind making this gun. It is a combat oriented pistol that is built for Operator's. Operator's with the physical and mental stability and ability to distinguish between who or what they NEED to shoot and not a knee jerk reaction trigger finger. That being said some will tout 1911 some will tout Sig. I tell you I own quite a few guns, but the Glock is the only thing that I trust my life to, and it is the only thing I carry. Youtube the takedown of multiple pistols and look for the one with the least moving parts and best track record and you will find the gun you can trust your life and your loved ones lives to. Or you can trust me when I tell you the answer is Glock. And oh by the way I am a 1911 guy that just happened to catch a drink of the Glock coolaid.

XD's are a copy of the glock they feel better there not that much to them either I have yet to tear down a glock but I can tear a XD down blind folded. If you want to trust your life to a gun buy a revolver. If it fails pull the trigger again. I belive in the reliability of glocks but I hate how they feel. Its personal prefference. I can vouch for Xds reliability mud, dirt, snow and cow crap it will fire.

I have nothing but praise for my glock 27. I am a big man with big hands and it fits my hand perfect. It has the pinky grip integrated into the both of my clips.

I'll throw my two cents, The glock is a gun that will go off every time you pull the trigger, doesn't rust, you can buy plenty of optional parts for it, just a working gun, that doesn't matter if you scratch it, cause it's not a collector's piece.

I'm new to the pistol world. Have a good friend that's been a cop for 20 years. Glock is not his work pistol but is his preferred personal. I went on his advice. Although I have no experience with others, so far I'm happy with the glock.
Extra parts....just like owning a diesel pickup

I have to stick with the Glock Bandwagon. I have owned my G17 (9mm) for 5 yrs now and it is by far my favorite most trusted pistol. I have 1911's, revolvers, & ruger semis. My glock is always with me, night stand, woods, truck, i have even carried it concealed in the winter months. The simplicty, weight, accurracy and dependability are my reasons for being "pro-glock". Dont get me wrong, i love my 1911's and how they shoot but in the stainless flavor and the price tag, i'm less likely to scrape through the woods with it on my side. As far as the Springfield XD's, they are a great buy, $60-$100 less than a Glock and you get more accesories and they have seemed to proven themselves. I have handled an XD compact and it just seemed a little bulky even compared to my standard frame glock. I would not let the thought of "Glock Hype" make you shy away. There is an issue with the recoil spring on the Gen 4 Glocks but Glock has issued a statement saying they will fix it for no charge. Check out all of the calibers and fram variations you can get from Glock opposed to 9mm, .40, and .45 My next one will be a 10mm

Side note on the XD's, just saw in my Concealed Carry Handguns magazine that you can get a compact XD that comes with a grip extension and an extended mag to make it more of a standard frame (minus the longer barrell) not sure if this is brand new but is the first i have seen it.
