Default Being Wrong is Important... and, Admitting It is too!

Personally I have no use for the 40 short and weak....it's nothing but a compromise...and excels at nothing....

a 40 caliber 135 gr. going over 1300 FPS will get the job done

And why would it be I ask.....

The wounding/killing difference between the modern 9mm/40 short and weak & 45 is so very close it''s almost zero difference...it all boils down to number of spare cartridges carried...

How many rounds in a 45 mag, how many rounds in a 40 mag & how many rounds in a 9mm mag...

With 1 mag in the gun, 1 in the pipe and either 1 or 2 spare mags on your body you by and far have way more ammo on your person with a 9mm....

Not to mention you can get much more range time with the cheaper 9mm ammo, it's got way less recoil/kick, is easier on the weapon and the shooter and a much faster 2nd shot followup than the 40 short and weak...

Did I forget to mention....

My 357Sig's....loaded with factory 125gr Gold Dot's clocks in at

3.5" barrel - 1415fps
4.5" barrel - 1525fps

And the 357 Sig is a much better caliber than the 40 short and weak...designed from the onset to replicate the 125gr 357 Magnum....the all time #1 human stopping round...and it's emulated this round quite nicely....along with being way flatter shooting...deeper penetrating...less recoil and harder hitting than the 40 short and weak....

It's a 9mm on steroids....

Because everybody should already be keenly aware of how you feel about the .40 as well as gunman41 from previous threads?

While my self defense gun is a CZ-75 9MM, which i like for the above reason, I'm not going to bad mouth the 40 S&W or the 45 ACP. Now I have a glock 22 with a BAR-STO 357 SIG barrel, & that 4.5 inch barrel only give me 1400 FPS with 125 gr. CCI brass. I think some one is BS'ING with those high velocity figures on the 357 SIG.
