Ohio has both open carry and conceal carry. Open carry is just dumb because any time anybody sees a gun, they freak out and you'll be arrested for inducing panic. Conceal carry is a great idea but the other side of the coin is that if somebody doesn't want a gun in their business, it's their right to refuse just as much as it is my right to carry. I love my .40 and I wouldn't dream of not having it at least in my truck but it's a pain sometimes when I'm stuck in a place my friends are going that refuses conceal carrying

Personally I prefer concealed carry for myself. Kind of the same reasons Dieselfunohio is saying. I'd rather not deal with the hassle of being stopped by a LEO just because someone that sees me open carrying is "uncomfortable."

It doesn't really mater to me as long as the person carrying open isn't doing it because they think it makes them look cool I never have looked at a gun as a fashion statement. For my self I would prefer concealed just because I am not in the business of advertising and unless I am coming onto your private or if you are a LEO I don't think it is your business to know if I am carrying.

And this is how rumors get started. This is the biggets lie Ive ever read on the subject.

Me and many others open carry on a regular basis, and I've never been arrested for it. It is legal. Sure Ive got some looks but who cares? Im not going to choose not to exercise my right just because it might scare the sheeple.

Open carry here is legal, you can choose to get a concealed carry permit and as of July1 if you are a resident of the state you can carry concealed legally without a permit.

Once in a great while you see somebody openly carrying...

Some places are posted no guns..however, if it's concealed how does anybody know & if it's open carry everybody knows...if you get busted carrying concealed someplace that's posted all they can do is ask you to leave & if you refuse then it's a misdemeanor trespassing charge.

The majority of people I have seen openly carrying either look like homeless/bums/white trash kind of people, cowboys or Rambo with mace, handcuffs and a attitude waiting for the police to say something to them as it's a right to open carry....

Not to mention you see lots of cheap nylon uncle mikes kind of holster with the pistol in it...sagging from a non gun belt...

Why not if you want to open carry look like a professional, clean cut, clean clothes, dressed nice and just present a good impression due to your appearance instead of looking like a homeless bum.....

Anywhoo, I've done both open & concealed carry....and have been reported to the Sheriff for open carrying at a flying J truckstop some years ago...the SO pulled into the truckstop, saw me, I waved & he waved back and drove away....did not have a saggy holster/belt, did not look like white trash but had been out shooting all day...

Now open carrying IMO is not a smart thing to do as it gives the tactical advantage to the goblin...you become a target when you strap on that pistol...

I like concealed carry cuz it gives you options...you are then in charge of your actions and not reacting to a goblin...

When concealed you have stealth, speed and violence of action on your part if you choose to employ your weapon...it gives you time for you OODA loop to cycle..for you to get inside your opponents OODA loop...

I truly feel that OC deters some crimes from happening. Like I said before, if I walked in to a place intending on robbing it and saw somebody OCing, Id turn around and walk out.

That being said I feel that everybody has the right to carry how they choose. If you want to CC more power to you. I CC about half the time myself.

And it truly might...if the person was not a hardened criminal/street thug but somebody out and about & taking on a sort target of opportunity.

However, a hardened criminal or somebody with mental issues won't be deterred and will look at the person OC as either a cop or a target...and as such will act hard and fast to neutralize the threat.

Yep, people should be able to carry how they choose, that's a given and no question about it....

When you OC, what mental condition are you in..white, yellow??? how about maintaining that state...are you aware of your surroundings...can somebody walk up on you....are you switched on enough to be able to react...

Is your mental state different between OC and CC and if so why
