12ga slug is what most of the rangers use around here --most of the time a bear(Grizzly) won't just fall over when you shoot it so you have break it down to stop it and a 12ga slug will do that for you especially at close range

I'm with cloker,12ga with slugs,it's a pain to carry around,but if I were expecting a bear it's what I'd want up close.

i think the judge is a stupid pos (I own one ) and is for sale the fo sights fall out its the most inacurate gun i have and i would probly have better luck with my benchmade against a bear the only thin its good for is snakes and rabbits you should get a s&w 460 it shoots 460 454 casull 45lc and its got the highest vilocity of any pistol on earth 500 has most muzle energy a glock 10mm would also be a good choice or a 1911 10mm 7 rnds might be a lil light tho definatly not the judge tho you will die
