Interesting opinion on concealed carry handgun calibers.

when it comes to a chl and cc size matters but its not the most major factor. ya if u can carry a .460 mag and hit anywhere near center of mass the bad guy is goin down...thats a given...to save my fingers from havin to type a massive paragraph on this ill make a summery...the smaller the caliber gets the better your shot placement has to be (with exceptions like the .357)
as for hollow points...if they werent good at killin things then y on earth would we make them...the wound channel with a .45 hollow point is massive...(i carry a .45 so its what i know the most about)
when it comes to picking a gun and caliber i will tell you one thing...dont have any particular gun in mind...go in to a shop and hold EVERY GUN...after a couple tries ull find one that just fits your hand...from there start looking at what cal you want. most guns are made in a couple different calibers (except most 1911 frames)
now to the most important part of owning a gun for self defense SHOOT IT...let me say that a couple more times SHOOT IT SHOOT IT SHOOT IT...um...SHOOT IT...if you dont know how your gun works ur gunna die when u pull it out...go to the range and shoot the damn thing...the more you go the better ull get with it...personally i go to the range about once a week cause there is a range right by my house and i shoot for free...
rant over...

I have to agree with riddick. if you don't have something in mind hold everything, find what fits your hand. I myself am a big guy and cannot stand when my pinky just hangs over the butt of a grip. I have my xd45 5in and shoot it regularly. The back 40 makes that quite easy. I honestly don't carry much, I got the permit so when the getting gets tough I'm already through the checks. I also agree to whomever said a lot of people carry, but how many could actually pull the trigger and hit the target in the state of adrenaline and fear.

O and I would love to get a shot at some of those gators... but I am glad that we don't have them in pa

Get a quality holster and belt & dress for the carry. If you use a shitty holster/belt then you will have a shitty carry system and will hate to carry it.
Now if the gun is just to heavy, then you need to go to the gym....
I carry a full sized Springfield TRP 45 in a MTAC holster on a wilderness 5 stitch belt with 2 spare magazines for 12-16+ hours and it's not to heavy....

Exactly how many "bad guys" have you seen with a "near miss" from a 460 anywhoo...

Whoooo whooooo, give me a break here.....ya know that the anatomy and physiology of a gator and a human are so close.....I mean they are all but the same thing ya know...
Sigh......some people will try anything to convince others that a 40 short and weak will work on a human better than anything else, it's a "gator slayer" so it must be better than anything else...

A gator's head is a whole lot harder than any part of your body, and we have a four inch spot to hit, behind the eyes, now on a human body I got all kind of room to shoot and since most of the cops in Florida are carrying a 40, I got the feeling they know more than you and done a whole lot more research on it.
But if what ever you think make you happy,it's not going to make me change my mind, but you can keep telling us we don't know anything, and we will go with what works for us.
But like most people said, if they knew a fight was coming get the rifle out, I can take you out at 600 yards and you never hear the shot.

Exactly how many humans have you personally shot or personally seen shot with a 40 short and weak anyway>>>
How many GSW's have you seen in person, how many people have you had die on you due to GSW's and what was the different calibers/ranges/bullet that they were shot with....
As far as the LEO's carrying a 40, here again you show your ignorance in how LEO's select weapons/ammo/gear as the vast majority of LEO agencies are armed by the bean counters & who gives them the best deal in pistols/ammo/gear instead of what pistol/caliber weapon works best...
The 40 short and weak is no better of a caliber than the 9mm, 357 sig, 357 magnum, 10mm or the .45 ACP and is a compromise of several of them doing nothing better than any of them. It's just another run of the mill pistol caliber that many people have jumped on the bandwagon of......
But hey, keep doing a superb job of ignore the facts presented here......
Waving your huge **** star flaccid ***** around again eh.....sure hope it's bigger than my little hard *****.......

Couple questions for you here Ramprat, if you don't mind. Why do you continue using the following terminology WRT the .40:
...while you simultaneously say things like:
...basically acknowledging they must all be at least comparable in some way? I mean, unless you are talking about measuring shock waves in ballistic gelatin, comparing muzzle velocity numbers, etc. etc., what's the big deal?
You seem somehow biased against this round, like maybe somehting happened to you with a .40 at some time in your past that caused you to develop what seems like this great hatred for a simple pistol bullet.
And last but not least: What do you prefer, and why?

So you and obama know everything, so show us some of your kills, and you are right, a gator is not like a human, they don't die easy, the last time out my brother and I were unloading the one's you see in the trailer, we got 14 the first day in 6 hours.
Anyway we had them dumped in a big watermelon box to keep the sun off them to keep the meat fresh, after we shoot them we cut their spinal cord, that would mean you would not be able to move anything again.
As we got down to the second one we got that morning, an 8 footer, now we were each grabbing 2 legs on a side, lifting and tossing them in the cooler, well we had the 8 footer just about eye level with the box on the truck and he swung and tried to get me then my brother on the other side and our hands are full holding his legs and we got a head an a tail we are fighting.
But don't worry I didn't pull out my 40, we dropped him on the ground, I grabbed the head and held on like my life depended on it, my brother said you sure you got him I said yes cut him again, so yes these guys don't want to die and even after being shot and cut 5 hours eariler, he came back for one last fight.
Now the big one I was laying beside, had both of us pulled in the water a foot, not the place you want to be with a pissed off gator, when we got him up, I shot him twice the second shot he rolled over and deflated, so I was holding him while my brother went to get the rope and the gaff to pull this big mother out.
Then I seen him fill back up with air and knew I was in trouble and he flipped over quick and was pulling me in the water again, I couldn't release a hand to get to my pistol, he was to strong for me to hold one handed even after being shot 2 times in the brain, so I yelled at my brother to get down there quick, when he grabbed the line I shot him 2 more times, but yea it's nothing like a human, they don't like to quit.
