Yesterday I wrapped up the hard body work. Just have to grind some welds, clean and prep the body and then I will be ready for primer!

Been working on wiring in the auto window module and fuse block today. Its going along pretty quick, though. Ran out of wiring loom and 14ga positive wire (D'OH!), so I am stalled right now... well, here are the pics:

Fuse block (left) and auto window module (right) mounted to the floor:
188584_10150424195080228_533925227_17453699_6369074_n.jpg?t=1298932029

Wiring all laid out:
189240_10150424196375228_533925227_17453716_8052336_n.jpg?t=1298932029

Most of the wiring loomed up:
183285_10150424197585228_533925227_17453735_4989372_n.jpg?t=1298932031

Now i just need to find something suitable for the loom between the cab and doors. My original doors were all manual, so there were no wires running to the door (IDK where the speaker wires were...), therefore no existing loom.

Gonna try to get the wiring done today or tomorrow and look for some window switches. I need to finish up wiring for the gauges, and for the auto dim rear view mirror. Also going to wire in a light sensor for auto-on headlights, and a temp sensor for the overhead console I got (compass and outside temp!).

This week:
- Gonna get the speaker wiring laid out so I can wire up the Amp when I get it.
- Wire up the Amp (when I get it).
- Start mocking up the center console with cardboard.
- Depending on weather... spray primer!
- Finish wiring.
- Mock up cab lights and drill mounting holes.
- Grind the welds on the rocker panel.

Until next time...

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

Well, I got MOST of the wiring finished today. Ran to town after dinner and got more loom, some wire, and the material needed to make the center console, then got home and started on the wiring again. The only thing I have to wire up yet is the auto dimming mirror, auto headlights, and the cab lights. I think I am going to run them all on the same circuit, though (shouldn't have too much draw, I imagine).

Tonight I made the pigtails for the power locks, wired for the power windows, ran the speaker wire, and the power wire for the gauges. So, here is the evidence:

Power lock pigtails:

And all of it buttoned up, for the most part:

Massive amp is massive:

Polk PA1100.5, 1200W, 5 channels. This is gonna be good!

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

Ordered a Viper car alarm and Rockford Fosgate amp wiring kit today. Hopefully I will have them by next week. The weather is not going to be nice enough next week for me to spray primer, like I had originally hoped, i might be able to do some small sprays, but not the cab like I wanted to do.

Gonna finish the wiring, and start with the sound deadening since I can't spray.

Also going to go to the yard and find some seats. Might be able to get started on brackets for the seats and get started on the center console. I have been working on the design for the center console for the last few days. Should turn out pretty awesome!

Haha, yeah... measures 26x11, but its gonna be worth it!

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

Got the rear speaker wiring harness done last night, and the preliminary drawing of the center console done today. Proof:

Pretty simple rear speaker wire harnesses. Made using 12ga Monster wire:
189368_10150426207205228_533925227_17477247_1868544_n.jpg?t=1299085402

Quick side shot drawing of the center console. All measurements are approximate, each square is 4 sq in (2" sides, for those bad at math):
183755_10150426206625228_533925227_17477246_3515354_n.jpg?t=1299085403

The center console will have the sub integrated in the back, and a CPU fan integrated on the lower side to ventilate the amplifier, and the volume controls for the bass gain, and overall volume will be mounted on the upper side. Sub box size is about .66 cu ft, port slotted, in spec with the Alpine's specs for the sub. Cup holders will be integrated into the front. I would like to put a change tray in, but I think the sub would rattle the change too much... might integrate it in between the cup holders if I can find an appropriately sized tray (or use another cup holder insert). Going to finish the console in black tweed on the upper half and grey Ozite carpeting on the lower half. Should be a fun upholstery lesson, haha. The top will be finished in wood veneer, most likely Oak or Cherry, stained and urethaned, of course.

Inside I should have plenty of storage, with a trap door to get to the Amp and fuse block so if I need to change a fuse or get to the amp for some reason, its pretty easily accessible.

Also will be making up some speaker covers for the doors. I am going to cut out the plastic grille, and make a custom grille using vintage style guitar amp speaker fabric... should look pretty nice!

The weather is looking iffy for monday. If it goes as planned, I will be out priming the truck, if not... I will begin working on the side cuts and mounts for the center console. Since I don't have the seats in yet, I can't mock them up to get a definite width measurement for the console, so I really need to get on that. Once the seats are here, I am going to install heating pads in them, so I will have to wire that into the center console, but that should be pretty simple!

Ordered up a Viper car alarm, and the Fosgate 4 gauge amp wiring kit last night, and that will absolutely complete the wiring for the truck. Waiting on those to arrive and I will be able to kick ***.

Sound deadening is here, ready for install when the wiring is done, that should only take a day or so!

Getting excited, but the list seems as if it keeps getting longer and longer...

Which of Alpine's subs are you going with? A friend of mine had 12" X's in the back of an exploder which was dynomated. That thing could just about jump off the ground. Alpine makes good stuff.

Going with a 10" shallow mount type R. I don't need gangsta bump, I just want nicely balanced sound. Its all about the balance. In fact, I could probably get away without the sub considering the speakers I am putting in, but I want it there to completely round out the system.

I love Alpine R's. I had them in my last truck and in the front doors of this one.

Yeah considering my space limitations I think the type r will be some good bang for the buck... Literally.

Well, I had a massively productive day today, to say the least. I spent about 8 hours total in the shop (on my knees...). I got all the wiring finished (until I get my alarm), sound deadening done (used about 60 sq feet of the 100 I ordered), got the carpet laid out, and the carpet for the kick panels cut out. Also got the sound deadening panel for the back mocked up. When i list it out, it sure doesn't sound like much, but it really is! Here ya go:

Got all the sound deadening in, 2 layers on the firewall and trans tunnel, and one layer everywhere else:
190743_10150426632345228_533925227_17481528_3227364_n.jpg?t=1299119753

Then, I broke out the new carpet for the first time, and laid it out. Had to cut out the shifter holes, that was kind of a pain in the butt. It laid out pretty well... needs stretched some more, but i think once I get the seats in, and have a helper it will lay out alright, but it will still have some slack in it... Here is it laid out:
183206_10150426763565228_533925227_17483377_6666925_n.jpg?t=1299119759

Also, I was looking for something to cover the back walls in, and stumbled upon some Ozite at Menards. Figured for $17, can't hurt. Its really simple to work with, and look great. Also, its an outdoor carpet, so it will be very durable if I happen to get it dirty:

181744_10150426770605228_533925227_17483458_6074645_n.jpg?t=1299120798

I took some brown masking paper and made templates to make kick panel coverings from the Ozite, this is how they turned out (again, SUPER easy to work with):
185895_10150426779375228_533925227_17483588_1783411_n.jpg?t=1299119766

This is the driver's side covering mocked up:
183843_10150426776520228_533925227_17483545_4348831_n.jpg?t=1299119766

And the passenger's side covering mocked up:
189948_10150426781120228_533925227_17483615_507235_n.jpg?t=1299119768

Then I went and got the sound deadening panel I had made quite some time ago, and mocked it up. I am not sure I am going to use it, since it cuts some room off of the space I need for the subwoofer port (don't want to suffocate the sub!), but here it is mocked up anyway:
190384_10150426794660228_533925227_17483718_1451155_n.jpg?t=1299119768

My alarm and amp wiring won't be here until next Tuesday. I am afraid I am running out of things to do! I am going to call around looking for seats, and maybe even start on the brackets for them. From there I can start the center console by mounting the amp, and I should be able to get that done by the end of spring break (granted, I can find seats!).

She's coming together, slowly but surely... Until next time

Well, my nice spring break is going to waste. Had a bit of an accident on Sunday where I slid about 50-60 feet on asphalt doing about 30 mph, and currently have road rash all over my hands. I have exactly one finger without a mark on it, and my knees are bruised, shoulder is strained to the point i cant get it over my head, and im pretty much just in bad shape, haha.

Healing looks like its going fine, and I should be out there later this week, at least for an hour or so a day. Got the alarm and amp wiring in, so I can run the wiring for that jazz, also have cruise control to put in. Weather has been **** lately, so spraying it out of the question. Plus, without hands, I haven't been able to finish the small amount of prep I need to finish.

The alarm i got is a Viper 350 plus. Nothing fancy, but it will work. Amp wiring is Fosgate 4AWG. And the cruise control is an Audiovox aftermarket kit we have laying around. Hopefully it will work on the diesel.

Hopefully will be going to get seats on Monday. May be settling on cloth seats for the cost of it all. I can always switch to leather down the line if I feel the need to.

Also, got this new (used) toy over the weekend:
200021_10150433488900228_533925227_17567612_84109_n.jpg?t=1299734298

2006 GSXR 1000. Should be fun! Definitely going to have to try not killing myself on it.
