I picked up some silver high temp bbq paint but I think I'm gonna polish them instead.

7" pipe looks better for this style but I don't need or want that big.

well i was gunna run a single stack cause i already have the hole in my bed... but im think there has to be some way to reduce a pipe that big down to like 4-5 inches any ideas? plus how would you weld aluminum to steel???

What size pipe are you running now? 4"? I'd say the easiest thing would to weld a plate on the bottom of the stack and cut a 4" hole in it to and weld your 4" pipe to it. Or weld a small piece of pipe(like 4-6" long) then you could just clamp it.

For my aluminum stacks, I could use oxyacetylene and basically melt the aluminum to the steel or I think I could braise it but I'm not sure on that. But I'm just going to use clamps and clamp it to some steel pipe I'll weld onto my 2x6 that I'm going to use as my "y pipe".

No way to weld aluminum to steel. Will never fuse. Doubt brazing would work either.

Clamps or rivets/bolts/screws only way to go really.

Looking forward to seeing pics of polished CAT stacks. Building a steel set myself. Probably paint High-Temp flat black for now, but would like the chrome look at some point.

I still need to talk to my old teacher to see if he can teach me to TIG weld or if he can weld these for me. I'm going to try to make it in today to talk to him. I'm really tempted to just hold out till I can find some cheap steel that way I can just get it done but on the other hand, I want to see what using aluminum would be like too. And don't worry guys, whichever route I go I'll post pics. I'll try to get step by step ones.

Alrighty. I talked to my old teacher today and he said he can teach me how to TIG weld. Unfortunately, his TIG machine is out of commission right now and should be fixed in about 2 weeks. He said that he also has a spool gun set up for aluminum but he recommends doing TIG instead so it looks nicer. So unless I find some cheap or free 4-5 or maybe 6" steel pipe in the next couple weeks, I'm going to have dual aluminum CAT stacks.
