The easiest(and quickest) way to polish aluminum tubing is to chuck it up in a lathe and use Scotch-Brite. If it's fairly scratched up, start with 180 or 220 grit wet/dry sand paper using coolant on the machine or a bucket of water and go from there.
I used to make fuel tubes for refueling in flight, and that's how I polished them.

Every one always has there own idea. I like black But polished would definitely be cool. Typical cat pipes have only one cut but I did my own variation. You would cut 22.5 and rotate. I cut three times at 10 degrees rotating each time and after welding together gave me 40 degrees. Drew straight line down each side of pipe opposite one another for realignment. Por-15 high temp paint for finish. It took an evening to make and install pipe on truck. Between pipe, paint 5"-4" reducer, clamps and flex pipe it cost about $150. I did one but two would be nice. I don't want a pipe in bed behind cab. I haul too much. Hope pics help.

acblair801- yeah, (chopsaw) kinda sucks doesn't it? Really would like a 7x12 bandsaw in the home shop, but work's 20x22 vertical fills in nicely.
Here's a shot of my just installed dual 5" Flat Black CAT stacks. Built at the home shop, from the bed up (except for the band clamps). 5" OD x 1/8" Thick EW round tubing and a little TiG welding and some high temp primer and paint (2000 degree stuff).
