Default compression test b4 buying diesel

I'm looking for a truck to buy, is it worth the time to do a compression test B4 buying? Are there any other tests you'd recommend besides driving?

What is involved in doing a compression test on a diesel? Remove the glow plugs and plug in the tester? What about the fuel? Are diesel comp testers different than gassers?

alot can be told just by looking at the amount of blowby..........the vent that come out from the front of the motor..........excessive blowby may warrent further testing
