Weldin galvy can give you galv poisoning which can be cured partially with lots of milk. i dont believe there are any long term effects from that but im not for sure. We weld Galvy all the time at work, and with an exhaust fan your usually ok. I took this post and sent it out to my company's safety team.

I've did that same thing until I got sick from it one day. Since then I do not weld on galv unless it is outside or I absolutly have to,and I get a shop fan to blow smoke away if indoors. An afternoon of:puke::puke::puke: and a 4 day headache i learned my lesson!:td:

I work in a steel fab shop I know about cutting and welding galvanize parts. We use resporators for these when we have to do it. I didnt know about the brake cleaner though, thanks I know what mondays safety meeting will be on now.
