Question Anyone know the purpose of this slot?

This has been driving me nuts, trying to figure it out
There's a slot in front of the radiator that looks like it should be holding something.
At first glance, I thought It might be a place to rest the radiator while working on the front of the engine, but it's not quite wide enough.... any comments?

This is my new truck to pull my 38' Toy hauler, A 2002 International DT530 with 10 speed .. I think it should do a nice job. My next step is to paint it to match the camper.

Possibly they put somthing in there in the winter to block off some of the radiator

A few pictures since I have worked on the truck and used it over the past two years pulling my Toy hauler.
