What major issues are you going to have on an 03 that you're not going to have on an 04.5 and up??? The newer one's you don't really have the ICP sensor issue, not that it's a huge deal... 05+ you are going to have to do the STC fitting on the HPOP if it hasn't been done, something that doesn't need to be done on the early one's. The 03 round egr cooler was the best of the years... The 05 notoriously had the worst HPOP. Injectors are different, but none are really better than others!? I mean don't get me wrong, they made a lot of changes but most of the common stuff happens on ALL of the years.

If I was going to buy one or the other, I'd go for the 05+ just for the chassis updates. Larger brakes, bigger front axle, coil overs up front etc...
