OK, let me ask the question bcuz I almost bought an 06 F350. How much $ we talking to do all the things that need to be done for the engine to perform at optimal / reliable level? By a mechanic, I don't turn my own wrenches. Just curious.

A couple hundred bucks, get a mechanic to install an EGR delete($125-200 for part) and send your FICM in to get rebuilt ($250, most likely not needed), coolant flush it if you are feeling froggy ($150ish). Run the p*ss out of it to keep the vgt vanes from sticking.

Thats all only if you get it done before you blow a head gasket and no I am not saying that every 6.0 blows a gasket so the 6.0 owners can calm down. Thats just the worse case scenario. Hope for the best, plan for the worst.

Not lied too just that no properly running 6.0 needs studs. Egr cooler failures blow headgaskets, clogged oil coolers cause egr cooler problems which cause headgasket problems. FICM failure kills injectors, low fuel pressure kills injectors. Leaky stc fitting cause no start hot, dummy plugs cause no start hot. All of these problems can be fixed for relatively cheap if you know how to use a wrench

So you're sayin an egr delete, oil cooler, and coolant filter can be done for 200 bucks ?
