-get an oasis (make sure there hasnt been to much replaced on it)
-check and see if its had HG's replaced with ARP's
-buy an EGR delete if it doesnt already have one
-buy an edge insight cs or cts or old style to monitor everything while you are towing
EGR/Oil Cooler cause HG problems, its not always a problem of when it happens just depends on how it was treated/taken care of. With the edge you would be able to check and make sure it is 100% before you buy it. You wouldnt be the only one to tow heavy with a 6.0, their transmissions are very stout and they have more room in the cab and ride very nice for being straight axle up front

BTW.. I've had 4 Cummins Dodges.. 2000, 2004. 2006, 2008 Blu-Tec Mega Cab.. Always leased them..
So I'm not illiterate to Diesels.. Just don't want to pay $22,000 for this Ford and then have to do all that work to just drive it..
Also looking at an 04 Duramax (LBZ) with 140,000 mi. and an 07 Cummins 5.9L with 118,000..
Thanks for the input.. Again... What is an Oasis report?????
Chris..

That would be a 2004 Duramax LB7 not LBZ..

Going through turbos IS from not driving enough. These trucks need to be WORKED. If they sit, or idle for long periods of time the vanes on the turbo will corrode/rust and start sticking, they like to be worked. If it must idle, wiring in the high idle feature takes all of 15 minutes... locks it in at a 1200rpm idle and locks the torque converter. This will also prevent wet stacking. Ford also has a newer flash out that cycles the turbo vanes at idle to prevent sticking. I have this on my truck...

$22k sounds like a lot for this truck honestly. You can find one already bulletproofed for that price... search the forums.
The lb7 is a decent truck, but lighter and not as solid as the Ford, chassis wise. They also seem to go through injectors for no apparent reason... even more than 6.0's.
The 07 might be a good choice, is it a dually? What's the cost on that? That will also need things like gauges and probably trans work hauling anything that heavy.
Welcome to DB.
