just want to know what the weak links are for a 1994 dodge ram 12 valve diesel? I bought this for $1200 there are 295,000 miles on the truck. got the truck of the frist owner. have all service records on the truck from new. new auto trans at 265,000. truck is all stock.

thanks. kdp is that short for killer dowel pin. allso not sure if i should mod it or leave it stock. what do you guys think? if i mod it what should i do first?

 

Fix the dowel pin. Its called a killer for a reason. Next would be Air intake, exhaust, and maybe some 50hp or 75hp injectors. Make some pump tweaks. What transmission is behind it?

 

trucks in the shop getting the kdp fixed. allso the vacuum pump rebuild. as for what trans is behind it i am not sure all i can tell you is it is and auto trans with over drive.

Just like they said, KDP is the weak link, after that its the stock auto tranny. If you leave the truck stock, the tranny will be fine. Even with a little pump work it will be fine, but if you start adding a lot of power, it won't last long. Do intake, exhaust and gauges first and then you can start tweaking on the pump

 

thanks for the advice on where to start. what gauges should i get? should they be exhaust gas, tubro boost, then not sure if i should get fuel or trans temp?

the goal for right now is some where around 275 to 300 hp to rear wheels. then i will go from there.
