Hey hows it going everyone. I am a new owner i just bought a 1995 cummins turbo diesel. Im just wondering is there anything mantience wise i need to look out for or anything i need to fix before it ruins the truck it only has 266 thousand miles on it and runs good its 2 wheel drive. If anyone could give me a list or suggestions of what i should check or fix to make it last forever let me know.

first of all, KDP, also known as the killer dowl pin. cheap fix, but can cause expensive damage. do a google search and there will be all kinds of information.

also, first thing I do when I get a new truck is change the oil, oil filter, and fuel filter. is it auto or manual?

If you're looking for more power, the first step would be to modify the fuel plate and AFC on the injection pump. Do you a search on Google and you should find plent of info on that.

Some must haves to go along with any perfomance upgrade is better flowing exhaust and air filter, gauges, and tranny upgrades to handle the power. Is it auto or manual?

You're definately going to need to upgrade your tranny when you do performance upgrades.

Hey Everyone- My apologies for delay. I know more involving the engine and it has a 5 lb. reading on cylinder nearest firewall from compression test. I sure wish I knew of an honorable and fair diesel Mechanic/shop in Central Florida. I'm guessing its a rebuild plus machine shop on heads? I'm a Gulf War Vet just trying to get this truck moving for cross country use/work. Please advise.
