Between ford and dodge is all opinion in which you want, As far as being reliable the 7.3 powerstroke and 12v cummins are the best motors...the 24v is also a good motor as long as you keep the injector pump in like...6.0 strokes had issues with head studs,etc but Ive heard good things about the later years...6.0's also put out good numbers on a dyno and are work horses

 

alright fella after all i've read here if i were you i'd be a bit perplexed. it seems most of the fine gentelmen on here have surcame to the brand war side of things ... there are a few different things to keep in mind... 1. THEY ALL HAVE PROS/CONS. 2. A STOCK TRANNY ON ANY TRUCK -WILL FAIL- WHEN TRYING TO ACHIEVE THE POWER LEVELS YOU DESIRE. and 3. THIS IS YOUR TRUCK!!!!... with all that in mind hoss at this point it comes down to personal opinion. if your wanting 450-500 horse you may spend more money on the ford to get it there an the tranny may last a little longer... whereas you may spend less on a dodge to reach those levels but have to do some tranny upgrades sooner than later... its all really OPINION... personally i DO NOT CARE who has a friend that knows a guy who's truck has done this or this or that... either way... with either three... in order to reach 450-500 rwhp you'll have to spend some coin. be it in the tranny ("dodge") or keepin it all together ("ford") you'll have to fix the cons to make the pro's outshine my friend... trust me... partner i drive a 03 ctd dually and PERSONALLY i love my truck an wouldn't trade it for another... BUT that doesn't mean i wouldn't drive another truck... i would love to have one of each an any true DIESEL BOMBER would!!! dont take part in the "brand wars" just buy/build/drive the one that fits you an enjoy all the fella's that enjoy what you do... BEIN A DIESEL BOMBER... for the love of the smoke, the power, the torque and the smell... AMEN!!!!!!
