Potential Diesel owner
Hey everybody,
I'm new to this site, as a potential diesel owner.
I've owned trucks since I was able to drive; all gasoline powered, even my current truck; '95 Ford F150 with the 300 inline six. (drinks it's share of gas).
I've heard alot of good things about the Diesel Bombers, so I figured I would try and mingle with y'all.
I'm in the market for a 3/4 ton or 1 ton 4X4, I'm trying to decide between Dodge and Ford, but kinda leaning towards the Cummins. Maybe 1st or 2nd Gen. for the Dodge, cause I can't afford the newer Dodge trucks. Ford's 7.3 PS is also kinda catchin' my interest.
From what I've learned, the Cummins is probably the best for longevity, and reliability. I've also heard the PowerStroke 7.3 is bullet proof.
I've heard of a few Cummins with over a million miles on them without being overhauled.
Have y'all heard of any 7.3 PowerStrokes up around a million miles without being overhauled?
Thanks for any input, I appreciate it, cause I'm still learning, myself.

Update: I just found-out recently that the H.O.A that is in control of my Condominium complex; does not allow any trucks or vans over the 1/2 ton class. So I guess I won't be getting a diesel 4X4 truck, for awhile anyway.
Unless y'all know of anyone selling a 1/2 ton 4X4 that has been converted to diesel.
Any input would be appreciated.
I'm going to go check-out a Jeep YJ for sale.
Those little diesel Libertys are pretty neat, but they seem too "soft", too much like a diesel compact car.

This just means you de-bage your truck and nobody knows it's a 3/4 ton as long as it's a single wheel and not a dually. A lot of us de-badge our trucks anyway cause we like the looks better.
You wont find anything that beats a Cummins Motor for reliability, easy to working on and cheap to mod but Ford makes the better truck to go around it.
