New diesel owner

Hello everyone. I just bought my first diesel, it's a project. 1984 F250 4x4
6.9. Long box single cab, currently without a box. My biggest obstacle right now is the wiring has been butchered badly, thinking seriously about buying a new harness and starting from scratch. Will post pic when I figure out how

im also new to this. i bought an 86 chevy 3/4 ton 4x4 with a 12 valve turbo cummins in it and it doesnt have any throttle response plenty of pulling power just not quick????it has a turbo 400 transmission. any thoughts to why its not faster? and top speed is 60?
