I just bought an 04 f-350 with a 6.0l and I'm getting about 12 mpg. It's bone stock. I was told before that I might be able to get 17-19 mpg with a few mods. Edge juice, exhaust, and air charger. Just wondering if it's actually true. A deisel mechanic told me I could expect maybe two. Trying to justify $1500+.

 

Don't get edge, I'd do a 6637 mod or intake system,change all fluids and filters, check your tires and maybe get them balanced, then before any chip you need to get a set of gauges to monitor your truck or things will melt. And after that I'd look for a chip/programmer I think alot of 6.0 guys like the sct, I may be wrong but theyll chime in here I'm sure.

These are the first things i would do

-fresh fluids and filters
-proper tire inflation
-EGR Delete
-coolant filter
-stock airbox does pretty well
-zoodad mod(it's free, why not)
-check codes, test FICM, and load test batteries

 

Thanks. The deisel shop I went to that sells the edge with attitude cts said it has all the gauges I would need. Is there other gauges it wouldn't have that I would need? And what is the zoodad mod?

 

You can buy the edge cts for like what 800 with the programming or you can buy a set of gauges trans temp, boost, pyro and even fuel pressure for about 400 and a T's 6 position custom tuned for your truck for 295, if there made for 6.0. I don't know what the sct's run. But no ones a real big fan of edge products their not tuned to your truck, especially not shift points for trans, my Ts for my 99 7.3 made my trans shift slot smoother

no TS chip made for the 6.0, go with SCT!!

 

listen to what 03powerstroke said in his first post, and don't bother with the Edge, go SCT with custom tunes. Don't run anything too hot, or be prepared to starting throwing some money at it... ask me how I know. Welcome to DB!
