Anything that is aftermarket needs to be disconnected prior to the test. It does not need to be removed. Exhaust does not need to be removed. The test is a snap test which means they idle the truck and then hit the accelerator 3 times to see how much smoke it puts out. This website might help becarbcompliant.com but it deals mostly with heavy trucks and equipment. Thank you Schwarzenegger

Move. They'll get the message as you take your tax dollars to a different state.

finding someone out of state won't do much if you are stopped.. If you have a California Drivers License, Address and your are a resident you must register the truck in your state. If you register it out of state and get stopped then you will just have more problems by having to register it back here again to satisfy the ticket for failure to register..

I know here in WA you have 60 days to register your truck here or you get an expensive reminder every time they pull you over. I believe Oregon is the same way.

I am glad I live out in BFE so I don't have to deal with this stuff.

Try the board of automotive repair Bureau of Automotive Repair, State of California, Dept. of Consumer Affairs
This is the only place with all of the info your looking for! Stay away from the Air Resource Board unless looking for Executive order parts. if you look in the link you will find a video on how the test is supposed to work. Diesel Vehicle Smog Check Inspections Information
Hope this helps! Do be-careful of some shops that over scrutinize.
Thanks for the post!
