The newer Diesels can do more with less that's for sure. I know of some older benz diesels around that smoke like freight trains

As the thread title says , the reputation is dependent on the driver ...I just want to ad it depends on the vehicle a lot too. These new trucks are rolling off the assembly line with 3 times the power of the older ones, now we can make the older ones just as powerful but there is going to be casualties like Convertibles , Jeeps and pedestrians.

DM,

Your free is free attitude is in fact what America was built on...but look at it this way.

If one of your members on DB was a complete asshat who was causing thousands of other members to leave, would you still support his "freedom" to be an asshat, or would you exercise some control over said member, even if it became a control that some would consider "totalitarian" or "dictator-like"?

You understand that in the military, particularly in basic, when one asshat messes up, the rest of his platoon, etc pays the price for it? The offender is left relatively unscathed, until of course the blanket party happens.

Unfortunately, our government has set up a system where we cannot give the minority of asshats a blanket party, yet still must bear the consequences of said asshat's actions.....we are also unable to flip the "ban hammer" switch on them and eliminate the problem from our world.

So what else is left to do? Let them be idiots and live our lives suffering with the ramifications of their actions, or be as vocal as we can in the hopes that enough of the silent majority speaks up it might break through to the dense asshats who act like retards and ruin our life, one piece at a time.

Doesn't matter if it is diesel trucks, health care, guns, sports, abortion, etc....every issue that is polarizing in this country is due in part to a vocal minority controlling a silent majority, and it needs to stop.

...Dave Mitchell made his smoke on the track........not the street like an idiot.

the truck has to get to the track somehow dan , im sure he didnt put it back to stock then drive it to the pull then rebomb it every time. once he got big enough you couldn't drive the truck on the street anyway so it was trailored.

The Good Old Days .... i hear people talking about them all the time doing things that if they did today they would be locked up for but then it was normal. Well i got to live in the good days of when you could blow black smoke and raise hell and to my brethern who have yet to exsperance this i will not do anything to put a stop to it because i have already had my fun, Bomb to your hearts content , blow it up raise hell and have fun you only live once and this isnt no practice life .. before the liberals shut down our smoke im going to blow every drop i can on everyone and everything just to **** them off. And for all the people crying that its a Black Eye to diesel enthusiasts , you sir shall have a black eye of soot.

People need to get off there high horses , its a truck blowing smoke more people die from slipping on the soap in the shower quit trying to regulate and control everything.

Full throtle till the end

No matter how hard I'm tryin to I just can't agree with this. I want to but I can't. The fact is that this is a different world then it was. We used to drive down the highway drunk as hell passin beer between the trucks at 80mph and the occasional person went through the window the same way. The few times we got caught the cops made us dump all the beer and drive straight home. Don't think that would happen today, and for good reason. When I joined the military I struggled with the whole race thing because I was raised as a racist. In those days you could be a racist and still be successful in life. If you can do that now days then you are living a very isolated life and your going to miss out on a lot that life has to offer.

I've worked hard to see to it that my kid grew up to be that little bit better a person then I was so he can be that much more successful in life then I ever will be. I've lived a hard life as far as tryin to make a livin goes and done a lot a things that I never wanted to have to do. But I did them because I needed the money that the job paid. I don't want him to have to struggle in his life the way I did.

With this thought in mind I don't want him to be a copy of who I was. I want him to be more responsible in his young life so that he doesn't have to be so responsible in his old age. I want him to learn from my mistakes and go farther then I did, not make the same ones I did all over again. Like it or not this is called progression and you can't stop it. Everything in life changes and these kids have to live in a different world then we did. When they're our age they will be looking back having this same discussion about the things they did that kids just can't do now days.

It's not that kids can't have fun bu they get to have a different kind of fun then we did. The pic below was my kid at St. Louis International Gateway Raceway at 16 years old. I only dreamed of bein able to do somethin like that. We played on the streets, he had to be more responsible but got to have way more fun while he was at it.

Go ahead, tell me he was deprived of having fun just because he had to live under a different set of rules.

So, what you're saying is like this:

Back in my day we walked to school, up hill, both ways in the snow with no boots on and liked it.

Back in my day I said to hell with school I'm tired.

I made more mistakes by the end of my teenage years then most of you will in your lifetime. And I've paid for those mistakes everyday of my life since.

everyone will always find a way to make power, smoke whatever it is that people hate. its simple how did we all get into modding anything gasser or diesel. most wanted something different and had a dream. it doesn't matter how many rules governments pt against anybody there will always be a minority that wants to do stuff to **** people off. and that is why people blow smoke because its funny when people get pissed off and do stupid stuff

I don't know Uncle Bubba and know nothing more about him that what's written here; hoiwever, I have to applaud his position and agree with him.

Times have changed. Like it or not, we have to change with them.

I too was brought up, not so much "racist" but in a household where the "N" word was used frequently and without concern. It wasn't always used in a derogatory manner, but in most cases, just descriptive...it was the way my parents were raised in the 20's and 30's. The fact that my dad's father was killed by a black inmate while guarding a road crew, might have had a little input on the matter as well.

Regardless, I didn't want my kids growing up like that either.

And as Uncle Bubba, I've also done more than my share of hell raisin', ruinning from the police, etc., and by the Grace of God and a good bit of dumb luck, I've survived and have gone on to have a relatively good life

But if we tried to do the things today we did "back then", well, it wouldn't be pretty

Although I understand DM's poition and to some extent, his emotion, I can't agree with it,

We have to be more responsible if we don't want to have to fight with the damned government at every turn!
If that puts me in this category:
And for all the people crying that its a Black Eye to diesel enthusiasts , you sir shall have a black eye of soot.

People need to get off there high horses , its a truck blowing smoke more people die from slipping on the soap in the shower quit trying to regulate and control everything.
then so be it. SOmetimes, you just have to realize, you can't do what we "used to do."

I love fast cars!!!
There are times even today, like when I had my vette, that I'd love to say F'em! and go rippin up the road at mach speed, hangin' the curves, welkl, just because I can, and doin' what the car does best...haul a$$....but it just can't happen.

And as Bubba said, we all want more for our kids than we had. A better life, easier life, more "stuff" and a positive outlook on life...at least we should.

To each thier own though and lets hope the actions of some, don't effect the enjoyment of everyone

The only reason things are regulated and controlled is selfish people don't have the self control to think of the bigger picture and engage their mouths, feet, fists, and transmissions before their brains.

You have contradicted your own beliefs here, DM......I don't like it any more than you do but facts are facts...the minority of morons ruin everything for the majority and it's about time the majority--which you are one of like it or not you and I both know your true feelings--took back their place.
