The power and the Smoke goes hand , and it was the smoke that made them main stream , and its not the minority either , ever been to ohio? the majority of these guys dont want HP alone, they want to roll the coal. "Mitchell Smoke" made him rich.

Just stating the obvious

The only vehicle you see smoking over here are those old semis from former Jugoslavia and eastern europe. Smoke is completly gone.
Maybe you see rarely a cuban cigar smoking...

We wouldn't be Americans if we didn't do it in excess with reckless abandonment

i completely agree with everyone. quite honestly, i dont see the reason why people want to get a diesel just to smoke people out. i mean if you want a diesel, you should want it for work or as a truck to make insane hp. Now, im 17, and i have a few friends that love smoking people out, obviously, THEY dont pay for fuel. i just dont see the point in it. i am in automotive technology, and i constantly hear kids ask me what they can do to make smoke. and i also am constantly learning of more and more that the EPA is doing to make better emissions for diesels. my only question is what happens to those kids that are rolling coal all day when there are reg's against it? they will be screwed. now i love diesels and i hate to see what people do just for smoke. i work in a stump grinding buisness and we have a dodgge ram 3500 cummins and a vermeer sc50tx that has a caterpillar motor in it. when we bring the truck in to service, kids are alwasys sayin we should make it roll some thick nasty coal. but, they dont realize that towing a 4000 machine doesnt exactly help fuel mileage. and it is those kids that give my age group a bad rep. its rediculous and one day the diesel truck will have so much emissions regulations that if you make even the smallest amount of smoke, there will be fines. hopefully the young generation of diesel lovers will realize how rediculous the smoke is.

Proud to be an American for all the good things and i accept the bad things as well

The culture is being forced to change with the emissions regulations

with out the EPA what department do you have that takes care of that stuff?

Auto2010; you aren't alone.

I know why my truck smokes but I also know how to stop it or drive it so it doesn't. In my case, lack of air is the reason. That said, smoke can be on the strip, in the mud pit or on the dyno but daily drivers should be more concerned about pointing fingers at the establishment than making everything black.

I wonder if Grand Rock Stacks would be in business if it wasn't for the black smoke? And i wonder how many sets of Stacks they have sold?

Its easy to say "Smoke is Bad MmmKay" and take the holier than tho position on it , but i know that if your truck can blow smoke you know about it. and if its happened you didnt go opps ...oh my i killed a beautiful section of fresh air and cried about it.

Yes its not nice to do in excess but its a free world , if you choose not to that's your choice , let other people make there own minds up for them selves ..isnt that fair?

I see what you are saying and I can agree.....i think we need to educate these guys though as we are going to be regulated to death if we don't get this part of the hobby under control ourselves. I for one would rather "police" myself and have others with the same understanding I have kind of set-up some of our own guidlines to follow. Sure we all break the rules and the law and when we get caught we pay the fines and insurance hike because of it but we need to educate and curb the smoke only thing. I understand with increased power and mods the smoke comes with it but just blowing smoke for the sake or blowing smoke is dumb IMO and I think that is what most are trying to get across.

Education is key, regulation is not.

DM: we both live in "free" countries and you are 100% correct, I know my truck smokes and I didn't go oops, gee where'd that come from?
