Powerstroke blues
Ok 7.3 gear heads, I have a cold start problem that is kicking my arss. This 20017.3 will only start if it has been plugged in for about 10 minutes. This post might get a little lengthy but you need all the information I have to make a good diagnosis. I just rebuilt this motor from top to bottom. All parts new including HP pump, turbo, all sensors. I even sent the PCM off and had it checked. I installed new VC gaskets, new glow plugs and relays. I guess it would be easier to say the only thing I did not change was the injectors. All injectors were buzzed tested and new O-rings installed. This thing runs great but will not start cold. Also it has a new in-line fuel pump and filter. I did find out that it will not run when the tank gets to 1/4 for some reason it runs out of fuel at that point. If anyone has any suggestions I'm all ears.

There are so many things that could create an issue, it sounds like you have gone through the engine, If it were mine, I would drop the tank, check it out to see if any modifications have been done...
I have a project that I have been slowing working on for a year now, (looks like injectors) but hey you never know tackle the simplest issues first, If it is not a fuel problem, check your oil pressure, at the heads, check compression, (I know a guy that installed the rings upside down one time) it happens, but since yours is running, that is not a likely issue. hope this helps.
while you have it down, clean it up, treat it for growing pests, do any mods you want, check for restrictions.
