I am looking into buying a 7.3 and I have narrowed it down to 2 trucks.

the first has 159,xxx (which I know that mileage is fine) and it has exhaust, intake, tuner, and a 4" lift and is asking $14000 obo ( I will try to get him close to $12 if not i will walk away)
00 powerstroke 4x4 lariat

the second has 274k miles (is this getting too high?) it has
A leveling kit, chip, built trans and converter, trans cooler, exhaust( i wold change it I hate the way he has it) new hubs, and some mickey thompson wheels and he is asking $7500 obo
1999 Ford F250 XLT 7.3L

So my question is, which one would you guys choose? I am completely new to the 7.3 the only diesel I have some experience with is the 6.4 so which one would you guys choose?

And if I go to look at these truck what are some things I should look at?

I am a DIY'er with a alot of car experience so I know how to turn a wrench and I do any and all of my own car work, so all of the work that is needed will be done by myself so that will save some money.

 

On diesels mileage really has no effect. If youre planning to sell it down the road a few years go with the 2000 lariat. The 7.3s have no major issues so wrenching is minor (oil changes. Gasket replacements exc.) I bought my 01 brand new and over the years put 350k on it and it still runs like new. Its had a few upgrades
