Hi guys, newbie here I found this local truck and wanted a your opinions on it. It has 481k km (300k mi). I know that the engine should be ok, but I'm not sure its worth what the guy is asking for it. What do you all think its worth? Thanks in advanced.

Depends on how nice you're hoping to make it. If you're looking for a deal on a project you hope to turn into something really nice, that's just the first of many, many thousands you're going to spend, probably to your chagrin. If you're just looking for a solid work truck that you'll be able to limp along with basic hand tools for years to come, it's probably a good bet. Any working 4WD is inherently worth $1500 right off the bat. Throw in the diesel, the rare standard transmission, the fact that it runs and drives and has some significant money in recent maintenance already, and that's a helluva beater for a few grand. The OBO makes it even better, possibly a lot better depending on how desperate he is to move it. For what it is I think it's worth it, but if you want to end up with a nice clean shiny rig to take to the drive in that doesn't nickle and dime you to death, save your money and keep looking.

By no means would I want to make this a show truck, but as I'm still in college until the end of May I'll be using it as a daily driver. Just wanted to make sure I'm not going to be getting shafted and end up with something that'll fall apart before the end of the month. Anyways thanks for the input guys Anybody else want to give some insight?

Fall apart? Sure, everything but the motor. If you're a half decent mechanic and carry some tools and spare parts that are known to fail though, I doubt it will screw you over. That said, I wouldn't give the guy $3k without a fight. Not because it isn't worth it, but because if you make him a reasonable offer he'll probably take it. And with these trucks the fact of the matter is... they're worth exactly as much or as little as someone is willing to pay for them.

I paid 3800 for one with a half shot T case, 501,000km, a blown automatic, headlights wired into a toggle switch on the dash, horn too. single cab long box. CAD was a pull cable that was badly out of adjustment too. And that ain't even all of it.

another 4 grand later, it's got 512,000km on it, a 5 speed manual that I rebuilt, a rebuilt T case, a properly adjusted cable system, power/heated chevy seats, a column that isn't busted, and someday I'll get the initiative to fix the headlights.

don't pay what I paid. I'd pay 2 grand for that truck. infact, looking at the ad, I wouldn't even pay that.

go to Alberta my good man. I live in Saskatchewan. BC is a terrible place to be buying vehicles.

Mines a 1994 4x4 2500. 317xxx miles. Previous rebuilt transfer case and did some trans work (5th). Paints peeling some. Gave $5000 for it. Cheapest truck I could find for 4x4 in my area. Unsure of motor work, precious told me the previous before him had a 190hp bus pump on it. Smokes like the Dolly wood freight train if I lay into it with a load
