Ridiculous black smoke, WHY?

possibly your turbo taking a dump on you? Being that the truck runs fine, maybe not the turbo. Just for grins; take the chip out and see if your problem continues.

Thanks guys. The up pipes had no oil. I changed my exhaust 2 days and holly hell soot just feel out. I'm talking flakes the size of quarters. Also changed the oil only after 2,800 miles and it was blacker then hell and about 3 quarts low. I will try to take a better look again next time I have a day off. I'm living out of a motel in soda springs Idaho working for a mine as a diesel mechanic till december. So what little work I can do is in a parking lot.
