hello first post here. i have a 2001 f250 7.3 auto 4x4. there seems to be a problem with my trans. when its cold or hot it will sometimes not go into 3rd or 4th and when it does it will kick out and back in at random. i still have first and second gear.

i don't have any gauges so i don't know if the trans is overheating.


any help will be greatly appreciated.

 

is your overdrive light flashing??

 

is the light in the dash if so then no. i don't have my od button anymore its been disconnected. the button has been off for a year or so. my trans problem started maybe a week or two ago. i don't tow at all it's just a daily driver.

 

most of the time, any major trouble codes that have to do with trans, make your overdrive light flash (the light that lights up when od is turned off) but since it is disconnected i would recomend pulling codes first, could point you in the right direction for repair

 

ok so i pulled the codes.

i have a p0733 continuous gear 3 incorrect ratio.
next
p0750 shift solenoid A and p0755 shift solenoid B

 

well now you have a choice to make

you could drain the fluid, pull the pan, pull the filter and pull and replace the valve body, OR just get your tranny rebuilt. i had the same codes when mine went out, i replaced that valve body and it was a waste of time and did not fix a thing

 

oh well. looks like there is only one thing to do. rebuild the trans and do a cummins swap. i have 3 dying injectors so looks like its time. thanks for replying back. i tried getting help on others forums but no luck.
