Default early 99 engine swap

I got an early 99 a couple months ago with 265k on it. Since buying it the tranny scattered and now it is smoking like a tire fire. Sometimes its dark grey and sometimes a bluish tint. What year engies would be a direct bolt and plug in setup for this truck. The build date is 3/98. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I am shooting for just plugging it in. I am trying to avoid having to swap out parts.

Anything from 99 to 03 will drop in. You will need a complete motor (long block) other wise you will have to swap some parts...

You can use any Superduty 7.3 long block and it will drop it.
