Need help with the name of a wiring harness 2001 7.3l

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here is the history, problem, and question.

Drove home one night and parked the truck. Next morning, turns over like normal, but won't fire. Read here that camshaft sensor often it the culprit, so I replaced it...not the problem. Started thinking that it might just be electrical. Looked around and found (SO FAR, that is) THREE components where the wires have either btoken or are about to break. Back pressure sensor (black with 2 vacuum lines and a green plug attached on pipes at the rear of the engine), fuel warmer (white plug attached under fuel filter bowl), and one other.
I have a 2001 7.3l f250, 101,216 miles. The wiring harness is falling apart, mostly abutting the electrical plugs, and I need to find out what one of the harness part's name is. Viewing from the rear of the compartment, the fuel filter bowl on the center of the motor valley. Directly left is the high pressure oil pump. I see the Injector regulator pressure sensor. There is a black two connection plug that has a wire loop latch that holds it in place and may be attached below the HPOP.

What is the name of the harness that utilizes that plug.

Anyone else have a complete harness falling apart all at once like this?

John

I am wondering if it is the Engine Oil Temperature sensor

Glad to see you fixed it. I was about to suggest fuse#9 (bad fuel heater) that would also allow it to crank and not start.

Thanks W!

Before I saw your reply, I had resoldered all breaks and replaced the ipr plug...it did start.

To the heater causing a no start, it will crank without it...I tested it just after the repairs just to see, and it does run w/o the heater plugged in...I do have two new Interstate batteries, and have run Mobil1 15w 50 ever since the first oil change, so I am sure that the compression is near brand new levels and the cranking strength is awesome.

Now to my next question...

The fender well "covers" have several silver dollar sized washers held in place by what looks like a screw, but it doesn't unscrew.

I am wondering if they are actually push on fasteners masquerading as a screw-and-washer team.

I need to remove the cover to access the high pressure power steering line, as it seems to be leaking.

Any ideas?

Those are push fasteners If you are careful to not put much pressure on the screwdriver they will screw out and then the button part just pulls out. the other option if you can access the back side of them is to push the screw pin out and then pull the buttons out.

Thanks...I figured out how to access the line w/o removing the cover, but had tried the back pressure on the sliver washer and they caught and unscrewed. Got everything unscrewed...started to pull it out when I saw that there were several items attached to the backside and decided to try another way, with success!
