Default Fire in engine compartment. New wiring harness?

Im currently deployed overseas, and have my 97' 12 valve stored at my parents house. I have been gone for about 7 months and my brother has been starting and driving my truck every 2 or three weeks. Saturday he went to start it and saw smoke rising out of the hood. When he opened the hood, he says there was a 6 inch(could be exaggerating) flame on the drivers side of the engine block, below the fuel filter. A couple of weeks ago there was a nest that he had to clear out from under the hood. There doesnt seem like alot to burn in that spot, except the wiring harness, and I have a hunch that whatever animal was living in there chewed through some wires. Im really hoping that insurance will cover the damage, but if not how difficult is it to replace the wiring harness? Or what would be a ball park price to have a professional shop do it? My military specialty is working on machinery, but usually never vehicles. Thanks for reading!!
