Default parking brake error

today i made the mistake of leaving my parking brake on while driving my 99 F250. i only drove a mile down the road but i was still wondering if that might have done any damage.

It probably burned the pads off.

you really can't just easily check. you have to pull the rotor to see them.

My parking brake light recently went out and I did the same thing one day. Went a couple of miles and could smell hot brakes. Stopped thinking I had a caliper locked up and realized what had happen. My parking brake shoes might have had 3-4000 miles on them when it happen and appearred to be in decent shape afterwards. No cracking, separation like you would expect if you over-heated them. Without adjusting my parking brake would still hold the truck, but could be pushed to the floor farther than before. I tighten mine up just a hair on the slack adjusters and was good to go. I'd just drop the well, caliper, and and remove the rotor to see. Maybe an hours work if you take time to enjoy a beer while doing it.
