Block Heater in a 99?

i live in montana and there have been times where mine sits all day when its -30 - -45 below and it starts. VERY hard on it so i limit it. also, it isnt the most stylish, but all of us farmers do it to our diesels during the winter, cut i piece of cardboard and put it in front of you grille. that helps the motor run at the correct operating temps when its that cold. also, cycle the glow plugs 5-7 times

using the right motor oil weight will help with ware and tare with cold starts. always plug in
