are you talking about white smoke when you first start it? or do you let it idle for hours at a time when it's 2 degs out?

It will do NOTHING for cold starts. 0...

Put your truck in hi idle if you leave it sitting for longer then 5 minutes anyway.

A little white smoke on cold start ups. and i never let her idle more then 10min. so for the AIH to come on why does the ambient temperature have to be below 32°F?

because it's supposed to decrease white smoke when idling for long periods. now if you lived in alaska and idled for 23 hours a day then it would probably come on.
