huh. i didn't know the floor pans were different from auto to manual. i think all the pictures make it look harder than it actually is. but getting all the parts you need could be pretty hard.

As you can see in the pictures the ZF6 is much larger than the auto and requires some additional space.

Also, I was on an expressway last night and with 37's I run 1700rpms at 65mph.

BTW, I pulled my zf6 yesterday to replace a stock clutch with only 10k miles on it. Wasn't holding in the higher gears when you stabbed the throttle. Let me know if you want any measurements quickly as it's going back in tomorrow or Wednesday when my new clutch fork arrives.

I love my 6spd but unless you got plenty of money I would just build your auto. Trans rebuild, vb work and a good torque converter and it will be a completely different truck.

Something to be aware of if you do this, I guess Ford updated the clutch fork at some point as the eariler zf6 forks were prone to breaking. I just did the clutch on mine and here's a side by side of the old fork (left) compared to the new design (right).

Clark is totally correct..the clutch arm in my 2000 F250 SD broke in half a few years ago. Ford really screwed up here and will not make it good. So if you remove your manual tranny be sure to check that you have the updated clutch arm. I know many people who have cars/trucks from the 60s still using the original clutch arm, this is a part that should not have needed replacement. The guy at the parts place made the " I sell a lot of those " comment when I went to get it.
