2000 SD with 6 Speed manual

Im doing some research, im thinking about swapping my auto for a manual trans. I want to know what your guys trucks that have a manual rpms are at highway speed and what gearing you have. I have 3.73 so im hoping that the rpm will be reasonably the same. Any info you guys can give me would be great. thanks again.:rocking:

In Texas, it's 70MPH. I'm running exactly 2000 at that speed with 3.73s. Boost is around 3lbs on flat ground. EGTs are 650 I believe. Wish I just had one more gear... 17MPG mixed driving. 14MPG around on Ft. Hood (25-30MPH, stop and go)

about 2500 rpm at about 80.

anyone know anybody or have done this swap that may know about the ends and outs of this project. thanks fordnothing and thanks peterbilt387x, i may drop down to a 3.55 gear to keep the rpms down, I really am just wondering about the pcm and the transmount crossmember. I dont want my SES light on....drives me nuts. thanks ahead for all info.

you will either need a PCM from a manual or just have yours re programmed. i think the cross member are the same. or in the same spot any ways. it shouldn't be that big of a issue. i think the trannys are the same length. follow the wires up to where the plug is, i believe it's kinda towards the brake master cylinder. you'll need the wiring harness for the manual. it's just 2 wires for the reverse switch and 3 for the t case if you have the floor shift.

Gotta ask why?

Row boats went the way of the dinosaurs for a reason.

i don't think you're going to get lower RPMs with a manual. it will be the same or higher.

If I remember right, hazy, but on 33's and 3.73 rear my 6spd would rev 2k around 65-70mph. That's with a reprogrammed ECU for the 33's, which was verified through GPS.

Check out this thread, guess you have to cut the tunnel to get that big ZF6 to fit.

wow what a swap.

i HAVE A 2000 F-250 SD with the 6 speed manual. It is really a 5 speed with a granny gear. I have the 3.73 and would love to have a 3.55 or even slightly lower if possible. I can take off in 2nd gear easily. I just cannot justify the cost to swap the gears. you will incur a lot of cost doing that swap unless you already have a donor truck. be better off to sell yours and buy one that is already manual. thats my 2 cents. :pca1:
