Hey guys,
I am looking to get a new truck and am pretty sure it will be a 7.3L F250. I am currently on the fence w/ a '01 F250 CC, 4x4, Lariat (leather heated seats), w/ a new (30K ago) engine, cap and big cow killer. Rest of truck has 237,000 miles, and my mechanic was pretty impressed, though he agreed that it had spent a lot of time off-road. Dealer is asking $19,991, we offered 14,5k and they came back w/ 16,5K.

I also found an '02 non lariat (XLC) w/ 61K miles, w/ a cap that they (different dealership) are asking 19,999 for. Haven't had a chance to see it in person yet, but it looks good on the web

What say you? hold out for a lower mile truck for a few $k more or try to get a low price on the high milage one?

Thanks!

Well, Anything under 100K is a low mileage 7.3. But, I paid 16K for mine in April (Lariat 2wd 92K)... soo, if I were you, I wouldn't pay more than 17.5K for a non Lariat truck... the 61K miles are great... but you won't have the options and the year newer doesn't make it worth as much as a Lariat of the same year/mileage... if that makes sense..

Thanks,
turns out the 61K is already sold. We went to take the '01 home for the weekend, see what we thought, and it wouldn't start We will check it again on Monday, maybe.

yah.. I hear ya there -- just keep driving them till you find one for a good price

with diesel as high as it is, these trucks are in demand as much as they once were..

hell, there is a silver with black lower two tone 02 Crew cab F250 for sale here in town for $14988... I can't remember if its 4x4 and unsure of the mileage, but that shoudl still give you an example of what they should run... I'll stop by and check on it tomorrow

btw Hutch, where are you located?

I split my time between Wyoming and Arizona. I'm in Wyoming right now, but will be heading down to AZ on the 4th. My current truck is up for registration in Jan. so it would be nice to pick something up before I have to register it to save registration twice this year. Plus I need to register it in WY, and won't be back up here til May. Still not sure what we'll do. At this rate, probably just eat the registration cost of the current truck until we find what we want for the price we want.

I hear ya there... too bad I'm in Oklahoma hehe

there are trucks all over the place around here!

Just keep ur eye out and you'll find the one you want, I guarantee that! Ours was sitting on the lot and we decided to take it for a test drive (wasn't really looking into diesels) and have been hooked ever since and got a good deal on it!
