I was driving the other day and i was at the stop sign so i decided to get on it and when it went to 3rd gear it shifted hard all the others are fine. It only seems to do that when i really step into it. But when im driving normal it shifts fine. So im not really sure if i should be worried bout a new tranny or not. Any help would be great. Thanks.

 

Check your fluid first off... Make sure its not burnt or dark in color...

Is it firm/crisp or like slamming hard?

Might want to fill in your signature with mods and stuff done to your truck so we know. Do you have a chip?

 

all ik is that its a 7.3 has an 8 inch lift with 30s. this is my 1st diesel so im not very sure what is all done. ik it doesnt have a chip. and i will make sure 2 do that. its pretty firm so i dont get it cuz thats the only gear it does it in.

 

8" with 30's??? I hope not.

Others may have suggestions about the trans shifting hard. I'm not a trans specialist, but I wouldn't worry a whole bunch. I'd rather it be firm than slipping.

 

the tires are pretty small. im gunna put either 35's on it or whatever is nice that i can find. ik im gunna put a ts chip in and a 7 inch single stack. im not 2 worried bout the tranny since its just the 1 gear. if it was all of them i would be furious .

 

You might consider a valve body.
