ZF6 manual trans oil leak/weep on the stick cover
Hi,
I am test driving a used 2001 F350 with the 6-speed manual trans that the dealer allowed me to bring home. I noticed that the rubber boot on the bottom of the gear lever is weeping oil. I am wondering where this oil is coming from. Supposedly the truck has been inspected but I think no one really drove it up to speed for a long duration and distance. I do not really see any oil leaks when I looked underneath but I'll look again tomorrow. Shifting is fine, no grinding unless you do not clutch it right.
How bad is this and what could this symptom mean?
Other wise the truck drives good but louder than I'd like it to be but then I had a 6 leaker last year and I was spoiled.
Thanks!
