you may have something there, it is nice getting to communicate with other owners and folk who are professional grade. From your point of view HPO system a bit more sensitive?

i am far from professional grade , but HPO is the heart and sould of these 7.3 motors, even a stock truck would benefit from a better aftermarket HPOP from my understandings anyways, thats the next thing on mine after my turbo is an adreniline HPOP

There are many good 15w40 CJ rated diesel oils on the market. I am running Delo and the MC oil filter. My 7.3 seems happy with this combination. I change my oil and filter every 4500-5000 miles.

As far as synthetic oils, they are an execellent choice and offer some benifits over 15w40 oils.

I appreciate all the input, can you elaborate? I want to learn more
Our injectors are fired with compressed motor oil, in the area of 400-3000psi. This breaks down the oil over time, which is why you should not run extended drain intervals. There is NO motor oil, syn or dyno that will hold up to the constant beating a HEUI injection system put it thru.

I agree to a point, but there is going to be some motor oils that hold up better, and i believe a synthetic will hold up better than dino oil just due more or less to the nature of the oil, would I push 25k on an oil change in a powerstroke? no but try ams or any synthetic and send off a sample after 3k and then 5k and see how it tests

CSIPSD,

I agree with you, extended drains are not the way to go. The injectors are expensive to replace. I also know some will have another opinion on extended drains.

I ran across this article somewhere and am not even sure if its accurate or not.. but it sounds good to me and I have always used valvoline oil in my gassers.. so might try the blue for a oil change or two...

Maybe someone who knows can interject some wisdom on this...

Just to add to that statement HEUI Stands for Hydralicaly actuated, Electronicaly controled Unit Injector. CSIPDS is right. I personaly drain the HPOS ( High pressue oil system) when doing the oil change. hear is a link with video of the procedure. It's your Truck use the blue if it's cool. I have seen the tests that Mobil Delvac and Chevron Delo perform. I IMO would not use anything else.

Rustin,

Just curious, I am using the Delo 15w40 in my PSD. Did the Delo do better or worse than Delvac.

Thanks
