I have a early 99 Powerstroke. While towing my 5 wheel camper, up a steep hill. When I got to the top the truck shutter, or felt like going over a wash board. What do you think it could be?

Being your an early 99 I would doubt its surge. Sounds to me like your TC slipping a little. Might be getting a little tired.

Do you have any gauges? What is your boost when you feel this? What are your tranny temps?

 

I do have tranny temp,boost,and exhaust guages. But it only did it twice both times in the same place. This is a steep hill in town so I am going slow at the top when I crest the hill is when it does it. I don't know what my guages said,it happened all of the sudden I let off the gas and it shifted. It didn't throw any codes. The truck has 102,000 miles on it.

 

Sounds to me as if its just ghost shifting or locking and or unlocking the TC?
