Install an early 99 compressor wheel and delete the foil on the driver's side intercooler pipe. This will also help eliminate turbo surge on the stock GTP38.

I took the foil off of mine. Definately noticed more whistle. After doing an AEM intake I notice the turbo surge a lot more. Wish I had cash for a BB turbo, that way I dont have to back off the pedal everytime I hear the surge.

What he said... The WW helps with surge, does not always stop it but helps...

A 1.00 exhaust housing, be it wastegated or not will help a ton with surge, and does give a bit deeper tone out the exhaust

Intake will give you a ton more sound out of a stock turbo... Nothing will give you that early 2003 6.0 turbo sound. My Modded H2e gets a bit old when it hits about 22-24#'s... Really starts to sing.
