Assortment of Issues
Ok, so new to the site, and new to diesels in general, but I have a 2000 7.3 that I bought from a guy who let it sit for over a year and a half, and I got it running decent, but now after driving it for a few weeks its condition is starting to degrade a bit. Only code that comes up is the ICP sensor range low. I have ordered a new ICP, and am planning to replace and see how it runs. As it is now, at idol sounds fine. As far as driving it, between 2000-2500 RPMs it starts to blow an immense amount of light blue smoke and seems like it is bogging down and just hangs at the current gear, but when it shifts, smoke goes away and runs fine until it gets back to 2000 RPM's. I am hoping that the new ICP will cure to an extent. I am not expecting all problems to be solved but hopefully is a start. My biggest concern right now is damaging further so any recommendations as to the next step would be awesome. Thanks y'all.
Alright, I have replaced the ICP and have tested the truck out. Still have to plug in for 4+ hours, probably due to below freezing temperatures lately, but will start up somewhat hard when I crank. While it is warming up it is blowing a lot of blue smoke. Once it warms up, at idol no smoke, when I drive down the road on decline or flat no smoke, but when I put any strain on it it starts to blow blue. I did some research on the issue and all symptoms led me to check the turbo. I noticed a lot of oil in the valley and am assuming a pedestal leak, so at that point I decided just to take it in to a buddy that works at a diesel shop and let him do compression tests fuel pressure tests and an overall look see at the truck, am waiting to hear back.
