Default Ford F-250 7.3 Overheating

Hello again everyone. I have a 2003 Ford F-250 7.3 Diesel 4x4. Randomly just started showing hot on the gauge today. Doesn't sound like it is running rough or bad just showing hot. Replaced coolant reservoir about a month a go but this is first problem I have had. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

get a temp gun on it and see if its really getting hot or if the sensor is going bad. 7.3s are known for never getting hot

Ok, got some bad news I think today. My mechanic I usually take my 7.3 to has taken a full-time job but said he would look at it and try to help me out. He took the truck for a spin to see if he could replicate overheating and gauge went up to over heat as he returned to shop. Said he removed reservoir cap and coolant was cool and not hot at all so he is pretty sure it's a head gasket and pressure is causing cap to overflow and show overheating. Any other suggestions or help? Also any idea on cost to replace something like this? A ball park price would be great. Thanks for the help.
