This issue in my experiance is pretty normal. I get the same issue when my truck has been sitting in the cold for a day or so with out being plugged in. The trick is to have them plugged in everynight or plug it in for a few hours to get that block nice and warm, before you go to start it and you should have no problems.

yeah i have a duramax and it cranks like a champ in cold unplugged i always let it run 10 mins or so before i drive it. that is when its running stupid LB7 injectors!....my boss does not understand the different care a diesel needs over a gasser like today he got in it fired it up hard start was 24 last night then he revs it up and drives off i feel bad for that truck
