trying to smog my truck and lately there's more smoke than usual. it's a 99 f350 with stage 2 single shot injectors and custom tunes from php. My pcm has been re flashed to a 25hp heavy tow tune from php low smoke to pass smog.
When you rev it it dumps some smoke. but when you romp on it in drive no smoke. When iI fist got the tunes iIcouldn't get it to smoke dure raving in in my largest tune 80hp eco mode. know it'll puff a cloud.

all this about three years old

so what will cause smoke while raving. it's black

note..... tunes were fresh iIwould say year ago iIcouldn't smoke during rev iI would have to red line it . or 3 times to just get a cloud of smoke

won't pass smog my valve cover sticker fell off they won't except it wants me to install a cat. it's about a yr over due:-(

 

When you are driving, you are putting a load on and creating boost. When revving, no boost. Might need a stock tune.

 

What state are you in? If it didnt come from the factory with a cat it doesnt need one, regardless of if the sticker feel off. I'm in CA and my tech forgot to do the snap test.
