Default Normal egt's

What are your normal egt's running around town???? I hear everyone to watch them and to worry so just curious what's high and what's low

Depends on your mods and such, but normal PRE TURBO egt's will be 500-700* at 55mph.

Higher alt will cause higher EGT's...

Red line is 1250*. You can go over that for short periods of time, passing, racing and such, but 1250* is where you are on your own.

IH rates the motor for 1250* sustained egt's. You can tow all day at 1250*, but when your over that, your on your own.

Ya, I think somethings wrong with mine I have autometer gauges. It only goes to the 2 mark and sometimes a little bit over it...

As in 200 I guess just at the 2

wheres the probe? my 95 truck someone had a gauge already installed when i got it and it reads super low b/c its drilled in the exhaust pipe back by the trans!!! it should be in the exhaust manifold rite off the engine on the drivers side. do a search on here, someone has some nice pictures of exact location.

It has a splice in it, is that normal?
How do I know if its the probe or gauge that's bad? And do I have to get an autometer or does it not matter

They do have a splice in them... However that is not a location I would install a pyro probe. While it is pre-turbo, its 12-15" away from the best location.

Something is wrong with your gauge if its only showing 200*.
