Default Rear Axle??

The other day I started hearing a grinding noise like brakes rubbing metal on metal. All of my pads are in good condition. It sounds like its coming from the back end of the truck. I pulled the rear wheels to check those brakes and ended up replacing both caliper brackets as both of them had a seized pin. I did not pull the rotor to check the brake shoes for the ebrake. I hear the noise usually in town when I'm slowing down with the brakes or just coasting and can usually still hear it as i start to accelerate. When I had the rear end jacked up I tried to spin the tires by had with the tranny in park, and they did not want to rotate by hand. Not sure how normal or stiff it should be in the diff like that. I think it could be some bearings going or my clutch pack maybe. Anyone have any suggestions on checking the condition of these, I don't just want to start throwing parts at it.

I did rotate the hub while in neutral as well. It did turn while in neutral and i could hear a grinding when I did that. I figured that with it in park that the other wheel would turn the opposite direction with ease.
