i bought a superduty with 180k on it, new head gaskets and manifold studs for 800, i put a 6 inch lift with 38.5 inch boggers on it. i dont like the v10, bad mileage but i put alot of time into it and it looks good, so my question is how hard is it to make it a cummins or 7.3. i mean i cant replace it for 800 so i dont see the point in selling it. and i mean the engine and trans has to be worth something. i can get a complete 12v for 1000, and i can get a 7.3 for 1200.

 

If you found a 7.3 with all the wireing it shouldnt be to bad....... I would think

 

might have the same bolts holes for the 7.3 cummins its going to cost over 6 grand to put in a cummins ive looked at doing it for mine

if you need to find a used 7.3 look for old service truck every one i found have under 120,000 basically just breaking in the motor ive seen them go for under 5 grand just gota look around for them

Well this weekend I'm buying a 98 f350 with a 7.3 with a 5 speed. The truck has a bad frame. But its 1500 for everything would that work?

 

Will it work... mostly.

You will still need a superduty floor pan for the ZF5, but Superdutys come with a ZF6... So your one step behind there already. You will need the clutch assembly, the 98 (which there is no model 98 so its a 97 or 99...) will have a vacumn system which will need to be swapped to a power steering assisted system.

I really dont think you have any idea how hard this swap your talking is. Its not a weekend project, its not a month long project.

It will cost you anywhere from 5 to 10k to do it right.

 

Its not that hard of a swap Im in the middle of my work truck swap . Its a 2000 v10 auto Im swapping a 99 7.3 6 speed. now I bought a doner rot bucket with 105k miles for $2500 he had a new oil pan for it as the old one was just about shot and he bought a new clutch to put in while he was going to pull the motor to replace the pan. Trick is to have a doner truck we are swapping the whole wiring harness and dash including column. I also have a 2002 CCSB dually (I converted to a dually) PSD ZF truck to use for wiring diagram ect. I love the truck its in great shape I know whats done to it overall cost will be 2 grand or under as the doner also came with a nice shape dumping stake body on it. plus selling off the parts from the swap.

 

I've read up on doing it in my 94 (cummins swap) and it would be thousands. It basically comes down to how much you can fab on your own if you go on fordcummins.com they have every thing you need.. Little pricey but they have it and it tells you everything you'll need to do to install it also. Great website.

Id also imagine the engine mounts on the v10 are different
