Default Hard shifts

A friend of mine bought a 96 f-350 that had a aftermarket clutch. We dont know what the brand of the clutch is but he is having problems shifting into gear(1st, 2nd, Reverse). Also when letting the clutch out to move, the truck will lurch when only letting the clutch barely off the floor. Is there anyone that makes after market hydrolics for these trucks? Or is the current slave cylinder just weak?? no drips no leaks. thanks for the pointers

If you remove the boot from the floor and check where the shifter enters the top of the trans. My '96 had small pieces of metal, almost like keyes, that had to be in a certain way or I'd have gears I couldn't use or SEVERE shifter slop. It took a few times to get them stuck in place and all was great. How many miles on the clutch?

The clutch was installed by the previous owner, but he said it wasnt very old. Its just a single disc clutch. I know what your talking about though it took a little bit to get the shifter lined up, but it is not loose, just hard to get in gear. It seems like the clutch isnt disengaging or dragging. Thats why i was thinking it needs upgraded hydraulics?

if it was the throw out bearing it would probably be making some sounds. mine just started a slight grinding sound. but it's not screaming at me yet. but my tranny is some times hard to get into 2nd and reverse. but onlt if it's cold.

have you tried beeding the clutch system. its possible it has just a litle air in it which would give it those symptoms.
